Thomas Moore Bourbon Cognac Cask is a sophisticated expression that bridges Kentucky bourbon tradition with French cognac cask finishing. The lone standout in an otherwise all wine-finished lineup, this 750 mL bourbon takes the Bourbon+Grape theme to its farthest flung corners, creating an airy, complex spirit that showcases the elegant influence of cognac maturation.
Tasting Profile:
- Airy nose of orange oils and berries
- Sweet promises of complexity to come
- Orange marmalade and vanilla bean on the palate
- Leathery spice with sophisticated depth
- Dry, lingering, and complex finish
Bottled at 46.7% ABV (93.4 proof), the cognac casks lend a wonderful sheen to the whiskey, creating layers of citrus, fruit, and spice that complement rather than overwhelm the bourbon's character. The result is a unique expression that stands apart from traditional wine-finished bourbons. Perfect for bourbon enthusiasts seeking innovative finishing techniques and the refined complexity that only cognac cask maturation can provide.
