Expresiones del Corazón Weller C.Y.P.B. Reposado is a daring and refined edition of tequila aging. With its gentle bourbon warmth, agave-forward brightness, and balanced spice—it's a standout not just among Reposados, but as a bridge between tequila and bourbon craftsmanship.
🏺 Origins & Concept
-
Part of the annual Expresiones del Corazón collection, this Reposado spends at least nine months in authentic W.L. Weller C.Y.P.B. (Craft Your Perfect Bourbon) barrels, one of Buffalo Trace’s most celebrated wheated bourbon projects.
-
Crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in Jalisco’s Los Altos region, and produced using traditional methods—stone‑oven cooking, tahona crushing, and stainless pot distillation.
👃 Aroma (Nose)
Bright and nuanced—expect citrus zest, fresh mint, ginger, vanilla bean, and light caramel, underpinned by gentle sweetness of cooked agave. A subtle bourbon character gently threads through the aroma.
👅 Palate & Texture
-
Exceptionally smooth and balanced, blending cooked agave with notes of honeyed spice, butterscotch, dry fruit, and baking spices. The mouthfeel is silky, accompanied by soft oak and bourbon warmth.
-
Flavor highlights: orange peel, cinnamon, creamy oak, and a whisper of bourbon-derived influence over core agave essence.
🔁 Finish
Long, clean, and elegant—minty freshness persists, followed by gentle pepper spice, toasted wood, and lingering citrus impression. The finish energizes without overblown burn.
🌟 Why It Stands Out
-
Barrel pedigree: Bourbon fans will appreciate the integration of Weller CYPB’s soft, wheated profile—creating something novel in tequila aging.
-
Crossover appeal: Ideal for bourbon enthusiasts trying tequila, or tequila lovers curious about refined barrel-driven nuance.
-
Limited-entry collectible: Only released annually in small batches as part of the Expresiones series.
💬 User Notes
Reddit users and reviewers commend its uniqueness and discoverable crossover appeal—even if some prefer the Añejo series, the Reposado holds its own:
“The palate is smooth and expressive with flavors of honeyed agave, creamy toffee, and cinnamon, balanced by buttered oak and orange peel… a one-of-a-kind tequila experience.”

Expresiones del Corazon were created through the partnership of three men. Tequila expert David Grapshi brought together his dream team to create the world's first tequila barrel expressions: Master Distiller Miguel Cedeno Cruz, whose lifetime career has been agave cultivation, distillation and tequila production, and Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley, who has two decades of experience crafting bourbon and barrel selection. Together the trio sourced the perfect Los Altos agave, and acquired the perfect barrels from George T Stagg, Old Rip Van Winkle, Buffalo Trace and Sazerac Rye.
